Sunrisers Hyderabad is the youngest team in the IPL, debuting in 2013. The Orange Army has impressed time and again, defending totals that appear undefendable and pulling off impressive victories.

Despite having the likes of David Warner, Kane Williamson, Jonny Bairstow, and Manish Pandey in their side, SRH is still renowned for their bowling prowess. SRH won their first and only IPL trophy in 2016 and will be hungry for their second in IPL 2020.

The two-time IPL champions are come in at number 4 on this list. Having Shah Rukh Khan as one of your owners certainly helps your social media presence.

It would be unfair, however, to credit their strong Instagram presence just to King Khan. Kolkata Knight Riders have always had a loyal fanbase, and any match at the Eden Gardens will display just how passionate these fans are.

3) Royal Challengers Bangalore: 4.6 Million followers

Three-time finalists, zero time champions. The fact that a team of Royal Challengers Bangalore's calibre has failed to secure an IPL trophy is borderline criminal. Despite having a few underwhelming seasons, fans continue to show tremendous support to the Bangalore franchise, which is seen in the staggering number of Instagram followers they have.

A small part of the credit must go to captain Virat Kohli. Having 151 million followers, Virat Kohli is easily the most followed cricketer on Instagram. Add in other megastars such as AB de Villiers and Yuzvendra Chahal, and it is clear to see why RCB is beloved by people all around the world.

The defending champions are a close second on this list. The Mumbai lineup is probably the most lethal among any IPL franchise, as each member is a destructive match-winner.

Rohit Sharma, Keiron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, and Jasprit Bumrah make up the star-studded core of the team. It is also interesting to note that Mumbai Indians have by far the most number of posts on Instagram.

1) Chennai Super Kings: 5.6 Million followers

Most number followers for the franchise with the least number of posts. Even in the social media space, CSK continues to be an enigma.

The three-time champions have never failed to qualify for the playoffs, which is simply remarkable. 'CSK' is almost synonymous with MS Dhoni, who is the heartbeat of Indian cricket. This has allowed every stadium during a CSK match to be dyed in yellow, irrespective of who the home team is.

With IPL being the juggernaut that it is, do not be surprised if the numbers continue to rise rapidly throughout the season. The rankings might look very different when IPL 2021 comes around.
