IPL 2021: RCB player ratings vs MI as Maxwell, Harshal shine in Dubai

Virat Kohli: 8/10

For the second game running, Kohli's innings got off to a flier in the powerplay but slowed down greatly soon after. But unlike against the Chennai Super Kings, RCB's middle order ensured that the skipper's middle-overs issues weren't costly. His captaincy started off poorly, but he redeemed himself towards the end of the MI innings.

Devdutt Padikkal: 3/10

Padikkal lasted only four balls as Bumrah dislodged him for a blob. He threw himself about in the field and took a catch to dismiss Rohit.

KS Bharat: 7.5/10

Bharat started slowly again, but this time he made up for it to a certain extent. His 24-ball 32 was the exact type of innings RCB needed after losing Padikkal early.

Glenn Maxwell: 10/10

Maxwell was the star of the show for RCB against his former team. He smashed 56 off 37, playing a series of extraordinarily innovative shots, and then scalped the wickets of Rohit and Krunal. The Aussie even took a good catch in the deep.

AB de Villiers: 6/10

De Villiers spanked Bumrah over the ropes for a trademark six, but a sharp bouncer from the quick sent him back for 11. The South African genius appears to be rusty at the moment, and he needs to spend some time in the middle.

Dan Christian: 3/10

Christian had a poor outing for RCB on his return to the side. He played three balls for one run and conceded 15 runs in his first over, although he later returned to bowl a tight over to Hardik and Pollard. It seems as if the veteran all-rounder adds the illusion of depth and nothing more to the side.

Kyle Jamieson: 2/10

It was another expensive outing for Jamieson, who was taken to the cleaners by Rohit in his second over. He conceded 22 runs in his two powerplay overs and didn't bowl again.

Shahbaz Ahmed: 4.5/10

Apart from facing three balls that yielded one run, Shahbaz had nothing to do in the game. A brilliant yorker from Boult was simply too good for the southpaw, who misfielded a boundary in the deep.

Harshal Patel: 9.5/10

Harshal extended his lead at the top of the IPL 2021 Purple Cap list with an excellent display of medium-pace bowling. He used his slower balls and cutters to claim a historic hat-trick before cleaning up Milne to wrap up the MI innings.

Mohammed Siraj: 8/10

Siraj's two overs in the powerplay were innocuous, but he made an all-important breakthrough in the 15th over by dismissing Suryakumar. The pacer ended up with figures of 1/15 in three overs.

Yuzvendra Chahal: 9.5/10

Chahal was fired up against MI and clearly wanted to prove a point. The leggie dismissed De Kock, Kishan and Bumrah, exchanging words with the batsmen whenever possible. He finished with outstanding figures of 3/11 in his four overs.
