The stage is set for a thrilling encounter in Match 44 of IPL 2024 as Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) lock horns with Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. The upcoming game will be the second of Saturday's (April 27) double-header.

This will be the second time these two teams meet this season, with RR having emerged victorious by 20 runs in their previous encounter.

LSG, currently placed fourth on the points table, will be brimming with confidence from back-to-back wins. They've been playing some good cricket, with KL Rahul leading a strong batting line-up.

Their bowling attack, spearheaded by pace bowlers Yash Thakur, Mohsin Khan and the potentially returning Mayank Yadav, is a force to be reckoned with.

However, Rajasthan stand in their way, currently dominating the IPL 2024 season. Sitting atop the table with seven wins from eight matches, they are a well-oiled unit.

Their batting boasts the likes of the explosive Jos Buttler and the in-form Sanju Samson, while their bowling attack features experienced campaigners like Trent Boult and Yuzvendra Chahal. The contributions from Sandeep Sharma have further bolstered their pace attack.

Ahead of tonight's clash, let's take a look at three possible players who could be the highest run-getters in the LSG vs. RR tie.

#3 KL Rahul (LSG)

KL Rahul, the skipper of Lucknow Super Giants, is a lynchpin in their batting line-up. He started the IPL season cautiously, but recently showcased his ability to switch gears with a well-paced 53-ball 82 against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Known for his elegant cover drives and powerful pull shots, Rahul thrives while playing at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. Across 10 innings at the venue, the 32-year-old has mustered 380 runs at an average of 47.50 and at a strike rate of over 130.

If he can negate the new-ball threat of Trent Boult, and convert his starts into big scores, Rahul could be a major threat to the RR bowling attack. The home crowd at the Ekana Stadium will be behind him, hoping he can lead LSG to victory.

#2 Riyan Parag (RR)

Riyan Parag, the young batter for RR, has been promoted to the number four position this season. This move has paid massive dividends so far, with Parag showcasing his talent and potential. He is the highest run-scorer for Rajasthan, having amassed 318 runs at an average of over 63 and a phenomenal strike rate of 161.42.

He can take apart any bowling attack on his day, and his six-hitting prowess can take the game away from the opposition very quickly. Parag has been at his consistent best since some time now. In fact, since 2023, he has racked up 792 runs at an immaculate average and a strike rate of 49.5 and 165.34, respectively, in T20s.

#1 Sanju Samson (RR)

Rajasthan skipper Sanju Samson has been in red-hot form so far in IPL 2024. He is amongst the top 10 highest run-getters, having scored 314 runs at an average of 62.80 and a strike rate of over 152.

In the previous match against LSG, Samson played a crucial knock, bailing his team out of a tricky situation with a well-paced 82 runs off 52 balls.

RR would hope that the wicketkeeper-batter once again replicates his heroics against the Super Giants, this time, away from home.

With his selfless approach and a repertoire of glorious strokes in his armory, Samson is not only a genuine threat with the bat but also looks easy on the eyes. He is yet to be dismissed on a single-digit score in IPL 2024 so far.
