The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 retention list was announced on Sunday, November 26, by all 10 franchises. As per iplt20.com, the 10 franchises have cumulatively retained 173 players.

Ben Stokes (Chennai Super Kings), Shardul Thakur (Kolkata Knight Riders), Jofra Archer (Mumbai Indians), Shahrukh Khan (Punjab Kings), Jason Holder (Rajasthan Royals), Josh Hazlewood, Wanindu Hasaranga (both Royal Challengers Bangalore), and Harry Brook (SunRisers Hyderabad) were among the big names released by their respective franchises.

The real drama, however, began after the official release of the retention list. Reports emerged that all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who was retained by Gujarat Titans (GT), was subsequently traded to his original IPL franchise, Mumbai Indians, in an all-cash deal.

Simultaneously, MI traded Australian all-rounder Cameron Green, whom they had purchased for ₹17.50 crore at the IPL 2023 auction, to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). All three franchises confirmed the trade deals on Monday, November 27. As per iplt20.com, both trades have been carried out as per the existing player fees.

On that note, here is a look at all the significant details from IPL 2024 retention day.
