The eigth edition of Indian Premier League will begin on April 9, 2015, a source confirmed after BCCI’s working committee meeting on Tuesday.
Australia and New Zealand are the hosts for the World Cup next year, with the final scheduled to take place on March 29 at the MCG.
“IPL-8 will begin from April 9 next year and the franchises will get 11 days for preparation of the T20 league after the end of the World Cup,” a member of the IPL Governing Council told PTI after Tuesday’s meeting.
The meeting on Tuesday also cleared any doubts over the participation of West Indies players in IPL next year, with chairman Ranjib Biswal confirming their presence in the T20 tournament despite the cancellation of the tour midway recently.
“West Indies players will be playing in IPL,” Biswal said.
Biswal also added that the franchises have asked to be compensated after IPL 7 was hosted in UAE.
“The franchises have asked to compensate for the 15 days of IPL 7 held outside the country. The BCCI auditors will decide on the amount of compensation,” he added.
