Former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum also featured in the list of rare unfortunate players to not continue their tie-up with the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Ahead of the IPL, McCullum was released by Royal Challenger Bangalore after he had a pretty disappointing season as a middle-order bat and an opener.

It is no doubt that the retired Kiwi has lost his Midas touch with the bat and is no more a live wire in the field.

As a result, he had to warm the benches on most occasions in the previous season and even saw no buyers for the upcoming edition.

It is hard to fathom the fact that the player who saw the league on fire in its first-ever IPL game, will be now a part of history.

It must have been difficult for the 37-year old to see an end to his illustrious career at IPL, playing for the various franchise over the entire course of 11 years.
