Quality spinners have been one of the biggest reasons behind Chennai's success over the years. Since the departure of Ashwin, Chennai's spin bowling attack has been spearheaded by Imran Tahir, Ravindra Jadeja, and Harbhajan Singh. In IPL 2019, Chennai's spinners took 61 wickets throughout the tournament.

CSK's home ground Chepauk provides a wicket which keeps low and assists the spinners more than the seamers. In such conditions, an experienced spinner like Piyush Chawla can prove to be a very good option for the Super Kings.

Chawla played for the Kolkata Knight Riders for the last 6 seasons and was one of the most consistent bowlers in the team. The leg-spinner would add some much-needed depth to Chennai's attack.

The team from Tamil Nadu consists of players who can contribute with both bat and ball, and Chawla will be a big addition in that aspect too. He is a capable batsman who has played some very important cameos for KKR over the past 6 seasons.
