Kieron Pollard (Mumbai Indians, 2010)
History repeated itself in the year 2010 as once again two players emerged as the most expensive signings from IPL Auction. This time the duo comprised a West Indian and a New Zealander. Kieron Pollard earned a whopping bid of $750,000 from Mumbai Indians.
It proved to be a magical signing for the franchise as the all-rounder smashed 273 runs from 14 matches at a fantastic strike-rate of 185.71. He smashed the bowlers all around the park. His bowling performance was also up to the mark as he grabbed 15 wickets at an economy rate of 7.40 runs per over. This signing proved to be blockbuster one for the Mumbai Indians side as Kieron Pollard is still associated with the franchise and will represent them in IPL 2020.
Shane Bond (Kolkata Knight Riders, 2010)
The best fast bowler in the history of New Zealand cricket, Shane Bond was the joint most expensive player of IPL 2010 Auction. Kolkata Knight Riders bought him for the same amount as Kieron Pollard. His fast bowling skills were the main reason he was signed for such a big amount by the Shah Rukh Khan owned franchise.
Shane Bond got to play 8 matches for his side where he scalped 9 wickets at an economy rate of 7.22. Even though he conceded 224 runs, his average of 24.88 was quite an ideal one especially in terms of T20 cricket. He never played an IPL season after that as IPL 2010 was the last season for him.
