The star English batsman and the favorite kid of controversy started his IPL stint with the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2009. After a couple of seasons, he was picked up by the Deccan Chargers in 2011 but did not play a single game for them due to an injury.

The Deccan Chargers let him go and KP found a new home in Delhi in 2012. He played for them for 3 years but after a disastrous 2014 campaign, he was not retained by the men in red and blue.

He joined another Hyderabad-based franchise, the Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2015 but did not turn up to play for them as he felt playing an entire English County season will enhance the chances of his national comeback. The comeback did not happen and KP was released by SRH prior to the 2016 season. He joined the RPS in 2016 but was ruled out after just 4 games and that was it for his IPL career.
