The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 will follow the same two-group format introduced in 2022, with 10 teams divided into two groups for the league stage. Each franchise will compete in 14 league-stage matches, playing home and away fixtures against teams within their group and a pre-assigned opponent from the other group. They will meet the remaining four teams from the other group just once. The IPL 2025 season will consist of 74 matches in total, with the playoffs determining the two finalists. The top two teams will compete for the coveted trophy in the championship match on May 25, 2025.

IPL 2025 points system
The top four teams from the league stage will advance to the playoffs, with each win earning two points. A no-result match will see both sides receiving one point each. If a match ends in a tie, it will be decided by a Super Over. In scenarios where multiple teams finish with the same points, the Net Run Rate (NRR) will serve as the deciding factor. In the previous season, RCB, CSK, DC, and LSG all finished on the same points (14), but RCB secured the final playoff spot due to their superior NRR.

Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings are the teams with the most titles (5 each) as of March 2025. They have appeared in the final of the tournament 6 and 10 times, respectively. KKR held the 3rd spot with 4 appearances in the finals and won 3 titles.
