The legendary duo of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers hold the record for the highest partnership stand in the history of the Indian Premier League.
Their 229-run partnership against the Gujarat Lions came during the 2016 season. Both Virat (109* off 55) and ABD (129* off 52) smashed scintillating hundreds to guide their side to a match-winning 248/3.
Kohli and AB also hold the record for the 2nd highest partnership in IPL history. The duo hammered 215 unbeaten runs between them during an encounter against the Mumbai Indians in 2015.
The third highest partnership stand in IPL history belongs to LSG's opening duo of Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul. The duo added a record-breaking 210 for the first wicket against KKR in IPL 2022.
This also remains the highest partnership stand for the 1st wicket in the league's history.
Former Kings XI Punjab duo of Adam Gilchrist and Shaun Marsh were the first pair to rack up a 200+ stand for any wicket in IPL history. The Australian duo achieved the feat during the 2011 season after they added an unbeaten 210 runs against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. This remains the 4th highest stand in the history of the IPL.
Exactly a year later- May 17th, 2012- Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli became the 2nd duo to add 200+ runs. The duo added 204* runs for the 2nd wicket against the then Delhi Daredevils.
