Well, some of the KXIP fans would still be ruing last season's failure. The team that comprised match winners on the back of a successful auction, won five of its first six games. The team balance was on point, players were stepping up to their roles and Kings XI were looking 'relevant' again.

However, the same KXIP side led by Ravichandran Ashwin won just one out of their remaining eight fixtures. There was just one silver lining - KL Rahul.

Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal, Karun Nair, Yuvraj Singh, David Miller and Aaron Finch all flattered to deceive and the entire team relied on Rahul to rack up big scores, but unfortunately, cricket has never been a one-man game.

RCB had plenty of problems with their death bowling until that point, but Umesh Yadav had other ideas on the night. He absolutely destroyed the opposition's top order, knocking over the dangerous duo of KL Rahul and Chris Gayle.

It finally looked like Aaron Finch, who was arguably the worst player all season across all teams, would use his experience to steady the ship. But sadly, he too bit the dust for 26. As a result, in just 15.1 overs, the entire unit fell apart for 88.

RCB inflicted a major setback to the confidence of the KXIP players, achieving the simple target of 89 in just 8.1 overs. Skipper Virat Kohli struck 48 in 28, while Parthiv Patel smashed 40 off just 22 deliveries.
