#4 Adam Gilchrist

Former dashing Australian opener Adam Gilchrist had an attacking game perfectly suited to the IPL. However, he made an impression as a captain as well.
Gilchrist led Deccan Chargers to victory in the 2009 edition in South Africa. This, after the Chargers had finished last in the inaugural edition in 2008.
Gilchrist led from the front with 495 runs and 18 dismissals, and was adjudged player of the series. He was the second highest run-scorer in that season.
The wicket-keeper batsman later also went on to captain Kings XI Punjab.
The Aussie was IPL captain in a total of 74 matches, winning 35 and losing 39. He finished with a win percentage of 47.29.
