#3 Gautam Gambhir

For a long time Kolkata Knight Riders were an under-performing team despite having some of the biggest names in their ranks. It wasn’t until Gautam Gambhir took over the reins as captain that KKR achieved a level of consistency.
Under the left-handed Gambhir, KKR emerged as IPL champions in 2012 and again in 2014. Gambhir’s aggressive captaincy was seen as one of the major reasons behind the turnaround in KKR’s fortunes.
As player, he led from the front in 2012 with 590 runs, and he was also the leading run-getter in the season. In 2014, he contributed 335 runs in 16 matches.
Gambhir also captained Delhi in the IPL, but failed to taste similar success. Overall, Gambhir played a total of 129 matches as captain. He won 71 and lost 57 to finish with a win percentage of 55.46.
