IPL- Indian Paisa League

It is past the half way stage of IPL and we have seen many brilliant performances. But it’s hard to think of any of these performances coming from the Indian players. Most of them have been disappointing, barring a few. The likes of Viru, Gauti, Sachin and Yuvi have failed miserably and nothing exceptional has come from the Indian youngsters as well. This year’s IPL has seen domination from West Indian players Chris Gayle, Dwayne Brave and Dwayne Smith and Australian players Mike Hussey and Mitchell Johnson. So, the real purpose of the IPL, which was to promote local pool of players, is not being served. It is only due to the restriction of not having more than four foreign players that the local players are still being selected in the teams. If this restriction is removed, don’t be surprised if only a few local players are selected. This is because of the lack of talent that is being seen in the local players. The BCCI needs to wake up from its sleep and take measures so that the system can once again start producing talented bunch of cricketers. At present BCCI does not seem to be in any worry regarding the talent. Their only interest is the financial success of IPL. They are not concerned with the non-financial success, which is the formation of a talented pool of young cricketers. So, until the BCCI dwells on the non-financial parameters, there is not much expectation for any improvement in the performance of Indian players, and ordinary Indian fan will have to suffer till this is done.
