IPL Playoffs: Chennai Super Kings look to avenge defeat against Royal Challengers Bangalore

The final day of the IPL League stage saw Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore in action, and after some interesting results it has turned out that same fixtures will be repeated but on a bigger stage and with bigger stakes this time. The play-offs are a new introduction in cricket and this new format has earned praise form critics. Few would disagree that a proposed repeat of Sunday’s blockbuster fixtures has heightened interest of cricket fans.

Chennai Super Kings lost to Royal Challengers Bangalore after another Gayle storm ensured that Bangalore stayed numero uno. This match was played at Bangalore and the teams will shift to Chennai for the first qualifier. This means that it will be virtually a second leg away from home for Bangalore. The difference is though that both teams will start even stevens inspite of Sunday’s result.

Chennai’s captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni who put up a brave effort with 70 runs would be relieved that Kolkata slumped against Mumbai in the final minutes as a result of which they held on to their second position. This means that even if they lose to Bangalore they will still have a chance of making IPL 4 finals.

This kept aside, both sides will not want to leave it top late. A win for either team will send them straight to the finals and that too with a comfortable time period to get their act together.
