#2 Have played the most matches in the IPL - 169
The Mumbai Indians currently hold the record for most matches played in the IPL. They have played a total of 169 matches in 11 seasons, averaging 15.36 matches per season.
A team plays a total of 14 matches per season; only if they qualify for the playoffs do they play more games. This stat of the Mumbai Indians illustrates their consistency and the number of times they have made it to the playoffs.
Though the Chennai Super Kings might have had a better record had they played in the 2016 and 2017 editions, credit must be given to the Mumbai management in ensuring that the team plays with the same intensity and purpose every year. They also recruit the right players for the job, which makes things a lot easier.
#1 Largest victory margin - 146 runs
Mumbai Indians' most illustrious record yet came with their landslide win against the Delhi Daredevils in IPL 2017. They beat the Delhi side by a huge margin of 146 runs, which is the highest margin of victory in IPL history.
It was Match 45 of IPL 2017 and the Delhi Daredevils captain Zaheer Khan opted to bowl first, which proved to be the wrong decision.
Openers Lendl Simmons and Parthiv Patel gave Mumbai a solid start before Parthiv was dismissed. Kieron Pollard was promoted up the order to maintain the momentum and the Caribbean player took the opportunity with open arms as he and Simmons tore the Delhi bowlers apart.
Simmons scored 66 before he got out, and skipper Rohit Sharma was dismissed soon after that. But Pollard smashed an unbeaten 63 off 35 balls and Hardik Pandya gave him company with 29 off 14 balls.
The Mumbai Indians scored 212 in their 20 overs for the loss of just 3 wickets.
Delhi in reply never managed to find their feet as Harbhajan Singh and Karn Sharma spun a web around them. The Mumbai bowlers shared the spoils, and for Delhi Karun Nair was the only player to score more than 20 runs. There were 3 ducks and 4 single-digit scores in their innings as they got out for a paltry 66.
Malinga picked up 2 wickets while Harbhajan and Karn scalped 3 wickets each.
This convincing outing showed the caliber of the Mumbai Indians team, and they went on to win Vivo IPL 2017 to become the first team to win the coveted trophy thrice.
