Gayle's 175 powered RCB to the highest IPL score ever

If the Bangalore team has plummeted to the depths of records, they reign at the peak as well. The man who led them to this enviable height was the Universe Boss, Chris Gayle. In his one inning of 175 not out, he shattered almost every batting record in T20 cricket.

Chris Gayle’s knock of 175 against Pune Warriors in 2013 IPL was scored in 66 balls with 13 fours and 17 sixes. It established following records - Highest individual score in T20 cricket, Most sixes in one inning, Fastest T20 century (30 balls), Most runs in boundaries and more importantly, the highest team total ever.

Riding on Gayle’s world-record inning, Royal Challengers Bangalore notched up a mammoth total of 263/5 in 20 overs. It was then the highest team score in T20s surpassing Sri Lanka’s score of 260/6 against Zimbabwe in 2007.

Australia in 2016 equalled RCB’s total and finished at 263/3 in 20 overs against Sri Lanka. RCB still have the joint-highest team score in T20s and the highest in the IPL history.
