One of the mainstays of Vidarbha's white-ball batting in the last decade, wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut in 2022. Sharma might have made his IPL debut in 2022, but few would remember that he was also a part of the Mumbai Indians squad in 2016 and 2017, but didn't get game time.

Jitesh Sharma IPL Teams from 2022-24
Jitesh Sharma earned his maiden IPL contract via MI after a strong showing for Vidarbha in the Vijay Hazare 50-over Trophy and the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament. In the tournament, Jitesh was the third-highest scorer- 343 runs at a strike rate above 140 which also included a three-figure score- and it was enough for Mumbai to place a bid on him. Jitesh was eventually released by MI ahead of the 2018 mega auction.
However, his repeated exploits in domestic tournaments kept him in contention. In the 2021 edition of SMAT, Jitesh scored 214 runs in 7 innings @ 53.5/235.16 with 2 50+ scores.
This earned him a contract with the Punjab Kings, who claimed his services @ INR 20 Lakh.
Jitesh made his IPL debut against CSK, and throughout the next 12 innings, he scored 234 runs at a strike rate of 163.64.
Jitesh continued to impress everyone with his cameos as the wicket-keeper batter amassed 309 runs at a strike rate of 156.06 in 14 matches, earning him a maiden Indian national team call-up for the Asian Games held in China, in late 2023 and has been named as the vice-captain of the Punjab Kings ahead of IPL.

Though Jitesh Sharma was in the Mumbai Indians’ setup for about two seasons, it was after Punjab Kings bought him for INR 20 lakhs in the mega auction held in 2022, that Jitesh gained prominence and started to reap rewards for his hard-hitting cameos. The Kings have retained Jitesh for INR 20 lakhs ahead of IPL 2024.
