How did Kapil Dev and Romi Bhatia get married?
Kapil Dev was introduced to Romi Bhatia by his close friend, Sunil Bhatia.
At the time, Dev was in a relationship with South actress, Sarika.
The first meeting took place when Kapil invited Romi to watch him play in a Test match against the West Indies in Delhi, 1979.
Romi accepted the proposal and Dev went on to impress her and the entire folklore by smashing his maiden Test hundred.
It was love at first sight for Kapil, but Romi was apprehensive as the former was dating Sarika at the time. However, Dev was so head over heels for Romi that he decided to walk out of his relationship with the actress.
The proposal was even more filmy. In his book, Triumph of the Spirit, Dev spilled the beans on how he proposed Romi.
Apparently, the couple were travelling in a Mumbai local when Kapil's eyes fell on his poster.
And, Dev said this to Romi:

The rest, as they say, is history. The couple got hitched in May 1981.
