Star all-rounders Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard have been dropped from West Indies’ 15-man squad for the World Cup that begins next month, according to former West Indies Players Association (WIPA) President Dinanath Ramnarine. The former leg-spinner confirmed the news on his Twitter handle.
The West Indies are yet to publicly announce their 15-man squad for the mega event, but there has been increasing speculation of the Trinidad and Tobago duo being left out of the squad after they were left out of the 50-overs leg of the tour of South Africa.
Bravo was the captain when the West Indies pulled out midway through their tour of India last October due to payment issues between the board, the players and the players’ association.
Ramnarine added that the board didn't follow the suggestions provided by its own task force, that was set-up to look into the contracts dispute, which caused the players to withdraw midway through the tour.
"WICB set up their own Task Force - Task Force findings - WICB wrong, WIPA wrong and Players wrong End result - Pollard & Bravo get dropped,” Ramnarine said.
When contacted, the WICB didn't wish to comment on the issue and said that they would “neither confirm nor deny” the news.
