With his 10th consecutive 40-plus knock against Kings XI Punjab in the first qualifier of the Indian Premier League at the Eden Gardens, Robin Uthappa has broken Virat Kohli’s record for the highest scoring Indian in a single season. Uthappa celebrated the feat in style as he not only helped his team get to the finals, but also made a comeback in the Indian team after being named in the squad to play Bangladesh in the three match one day series.
The 28-year-old batsman from Kodagu has 655 runs to his name, overtaking Virat Kohli’s record of 634 runs that he had scored in the 2013 edition of the tournament.
With an amazing average of 46.78, Uthappa is also the current Orange Cap holder and is only behind Chris Gayle and Michael Hussey who had both scored 733 runs in the 2012 and 2013 season respectively.
