KKR rope in KC Cariappa as Shivam Mavi’s replacement

The IPL hasn’t even started yet and Kolkata Knight Riders have quite a few injury issues to deal with. Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi have been ruled out due to injuries. While Kerala pacer Sandeep Warrier was named as Nagarkoti’s replacement, Mavi’s replacement was unknown.

In the latest move, the Kolkata-based franchise has roped in the mystery spinner KC Cariappa. The Karnataka spinner has featured in three IPL seasons so far. He represented Kolkata Knights Riders in his first couple of seasons (2015 and 2016) before moving to Kings XI Punjab. He has played 10 games in the IPL and has picked up 8 wickets thus far at an economy rate of 9.24.

However, Cariappa has been in good form as he played a vital role in Karnataka’s title win in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He picked up 10 wickets at an average of 20.60 and an economy of 5.02.
