KL Rahul is a professional wicketkeeper-batter who represents the Indian national cricket team. He started his IPL career with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru franchise in 2013. The RCB franchise signed him for the IPL 2013 for INR 10 lakhs. Domestically, he played for the Karnataka State Team. He made his First-Class debut for the 2010-11 season. He made his international debut in a Boxing Day Test against Australia in 2014.

KL Rahul becomes an all-format player in 2016, the year in which he made his debut in ODIs and T20Is as well. KL Rahul was a part of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru squad that played the final in the IPL 2016. He was also a part of the Indian team that won the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, and played the final of the ICC ODI World Cup in 2023. KL Rahul also scored a fifty in the final of the ODI WC 2023 final.

KL Rahul’s IPL teams

KL Rahul started his IPL career with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2013. In the IPL 2014 auction, he was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad and played for the franchise for two years. He again joined Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2016 season. Rahul missed the IPL 2017 season due to injury. KL Rahul came into the Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in the IPL 2018. He was retained by the franchise in the next three IPL seasons: 2019, 2020, and 2021. He was also the captain of the Kings XI Punjab in the IPL 2020 and 2021.

Before the IPL 2022 auction, Punjab released him and Rahul went to Lucknow Super Giants. He becomes the captain of the Lucknow Super Giants, led his team to the top 4. He missed the IPL 2023 after nine games and Krunal Pandya was given the captaincy role. In 2024 season, he again captained LSG but his team finished at No. 7 in the points table with 7 wins in 14 games. KL Rahul was released by LSG before the IPL 2025 auction and Delhi Capitals bought him for a whopping INR 14 crores. He will play in the Delhi Capitals under the leadership of Axar Patel in the IPL 2025.

KL Rahul’s IPL auction price

KL Rahul was first bought by the Sunrisers Hyderabad during the IPL 2014 auction. SRH franchise bought him for INR 1 crore. During the IPL 2018 Auction, Kings XI Punjab bought KL Rahul for INR 11 crores. Rahul played for Punjab for four seasons (2018-2021). In the IPL 2025 auction, Delhi Capitals signed KL Rahul for INR 14 crores.

KL Rahul's IPL records

As of March 2025, KL Rahul has scored four centuries in the IPL. He is only the seventh batter to score four or more centuries in the IPL. He also has the record of scoring one of the fastest fifties in the IPL, as of March 2025. He scored a fifty in just 14 balls against Delhi Daredevils (Delhi Capitals) in IPL 2018 at Mohali.

As of March 24, 2025, KL Rahul is at No. 6 in the list of most 50+ scores in the IPL. He has scored 41 fifty-plus scores in the IPL. As of March 24, 2025, he is the only batter with 45+ batting average (minimum 50 innings) in the IPL. He scored 670 runs in the IPL 2020 and 659 runs in IPL 2018. Rahul scored 500+ runs in five consecutive seasons (2018-2022). His 132* against RCB is the fifth highest individual score in the IPL, as of March 2025.
