Kumar Sangakkara left the international cricket arena on August 24, 2015 at the end of the second Test match against India at P Sara Oval in Colombo. He can easily be called the greatest batsman from Sri Lanka, and arguably even the best among those who made their debuts after the year 2000.
One of only five batsmen to score 12000 Test runs and fastest amongst all of them, Kumar Sangakkara played 134 Test matches which yielded 12400 runs at a strong average of 57.40. He scored 38 centuries and 52 fifties with a career best of 319. All the other four batsmen who scored more than 12000 runs played more than 150 Test matches.
