Ambati Rayudu has arguably been CSK’s batsman of the season so far. He is capable of adapting to any role he is given and this was proved when he gave Chennai amazing starts in the first two games opening with Watson.

Filling Raina’s shoes at no.3 was never going to be an easy task but Rayudu did that job too with aplomb, putting away the poor balls and continuously rotating the strike with MSD. But his run-out was the turning point for CSK. Until then, they were motoring along nicely, but Dhoni’s back injury meant that he could not run those quick singles and doubles anymore.
