The 24th match of IPL 2020 will be played on 10th October 2020 between the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
KXIP is currently at the bottom of the points table, having won only one of their six matches so far while KKR is in fourth place with three wins and two losses.
KXIP and KKR have played 25 matches against each other in the IPL. KKR have won 17 matches, while KXIP have managed to win the remaining eight. KKR have also won the IPL title twice whereas KXIP have never lifted the trophy.
When the two sides met last year, KKR won both the matches. KXIP finished the season in the sixth position while KKR finished fifth, one position above KXIP, based on net run-rate.
On that note, let’s take a look at the probable playing XIs for both teams.
Kings XI Punjab (KXIP)
KXIP has tried a lot of team combinations this season, and they are yet to find a perfect starting XI. Glenn Maxwell's poor form has continued into the season, and he could be replaced by Chris Gayle, the Universe Boss. Since Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul have been successful as openers, KXIP might consider slotting Gayle into the team at the No. 3 position.
Probable XI: KL Rahul (C), Mayank Agarwal, Chris Gayle, Mandeep Singh, Nicholas Pooran, Simran Singh (WK), Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Shami, Sheldon Cottrell
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)
The move to open the innings with Rahul Tripathi along with Shubman Gill has worked well for KKR. There are no changes expected in the team which defeated CSK on Wednesday.
Probable XI: Shubman Gill, Rahul Tripathi, Nitish Rana, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Dinesh Karthik (C & WK), Eoin Morgan, Pat Cummins, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Shivam Mavi, Varun Chakravarthy
