KXIP vs KKR Head to Head in IPL, Past Battles to watch

The Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) take on the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) today in an eveing clash at Mohali. The two have played 17 times against each other since the inception of IPL in 2008. The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have an advantage over the Kings XI with 10 wins and KXIP are not too far behind with 7 wins.

Out of the 17 games 15 have been in the group stages and the other two being play off matches. The play-off matches which took place in IPL 2014 were won by Kolkata Knight Riders on both occasions. KKR have the upper hand with five victories in the last five matches.

The last match between the two which took place at the Eden Gardens was a very close affair and KKR came out on top by winning the match by just one wicket.

• Kolkata Knight Riders vs Kings XI Punjab (Kolkata) 9th May 2015 : KXIP put up a strong performance acting 182 from their 20 overs with the top order chipping in and Maxwell top scoring with 43. They looked on course for a certain victory as they chipped away at the KKR batting line-up taking wickets at regular intervals, but one Andre Russell would be their nemesis in chief scoring a fifty of just 21 deliveries to hand KKR the victory with a ball to spare.
• Kings XI Punjab vs Kolkata Knight Riders (Pune) 18th April 2015 : Riding on a well made 60 by George Bailey, KXIP looked 30 runs short as they lost wickets at regular intervals and could only make 155 for the loss of 9 wickets. KKR on the other hand made short work of the total reaching it with 2.1 overs to spare with Andre Russell starring for the visitors with a 66 to take them home.
• Kolkata Knight Riders vs Kings XI Punjab (Bangalore) 1st June 2014 (Finals) : A century by Wriddhiman Saha and a 60 by Manan Vohra ensured that KXIP reached 199 and set a total of 200 for KKR in the IPL 2014 Finals. A scintillating 94 by Manish Pandey kept KKR in the hunt all through the game and won the games with three wickets and three balls to spare. Pandey was rightly adjudged the Man of the Match.
• Kolkata Knight Riders vs Kings XI Punjab (Kolkata) 28th May 2014 : KKR set a modest total of 163 in the Qualifier with Robin Uthappa top scoring with 42 for the home side. In reply KXIP folded like a pack of cards with out putting up a fight losing by 28 runs as they were able to muster up of 135 on the night for the loss of eight wickets. Kings XI Punjab went on to lose the finals to KKR as well despite an amazing run all through the season.
• Kings XI Punjab vs Kolkata Knight Riders (Cuttack) 11th May 2014 : Virender Sehwag scored a blistering 72 against KKR despite losing partners at regular intervals and unable to build partnerships. KXIP could only score set a total of 150 and KKR had it easy for them as they achieved the target by losing just one wicket and with 2 overs to spare. Gambhir top scored in the fixture with a score of 63 and picked up the Man of the Match trophy.
