Lata Mangeshkar dedicates a song to Virat Kohli after his Mumbai masterclass

Virat Kohli has been receiving praise from all quarters for his stupendous run with the bat in the current Test series. His 235, the highest Test score by an Indian captain, set the tone for yet another victory for the hosts, who are now 3-0 up in the five-match series, with one more fixture to go.On Monday, after the team had clinched the match within half an hour of the morning session, Twitter was buzzing with compliments for the Indian team’s dominating show at Wankhede, and Virat Kohli’s record-breaking knock.The biggest gift, perhaps, came from the great Lata Mangeshkar, who witnessed Virat Kohli on song and decided to dedicate one of her masterpieces to the 28-year old. She took to Twitter to congratulate the Indian captain and send her regards with an attached YouTube audio clipping of her melody in the tweet.Her message read: “Khas taur se Virat Kohli Kohli ko badhaai deti hun jinhone 235 run banaaye”. (Specially for Virat Kohli, congratulations for scoring 235 runs).

The 87-year old has been a big fan of cricket, has congratulated the team on various memorable victories over the years. An ardent support of Sachin Tendulkar throughout his journey as an international cricketer, she has met the fellow-Mumbaikar on a number of occasions and shared her views with the Little Master.Tendulkar once conceded that Lata Mangeshkar had a big role to play at the start of his career, helping him overcome tumultuous phases in his early life and ease out his emotions. Tendulkar’s mother used to sing Mangeshkar’s songs as a lullaby to a young Sachin.She also spoke about the unfair comparison between Sachin and Kohli in one of her tweets that directed to her TwitLonger account.
