#2 Season four to Season six: Chris Gayle
Chris Gayle topped the run charts for the next three years of the Indian Premier League amassing 2049 runs at a very good average of 62.09 and an incredible strike rate of 165.10.
Such was Gayle’s dominance during this period that the second leading run-scorer lagged behind him by 494 runs.
Initially unsold in the auctions in 2011, Gayle was signed up by Royal Challengers Bangalore as a replacement for injured Dirk Nannes and he played a big role in taking them to the Final of that edition.
The Jamaican dasher scored in excess of 600 runs in every season and also won the Orange Cap for two consecutive years 2011 and 2012.
The sequence of his run tally during the three seasons was 608, 733 and 708 which included a whopping 154 sixes.
During the 2013 season, Gayle got the record score of 175* in the T20 format against Pune Warriors which is also the fastest century in the format, coming off just 30 deliveries.
