The best thing about the Indian Premier League is that an auction takes place every year and most players make a move from one franchise to another. This enables the players to get the experience of playing in different conditions. Also, the teams get an opportunity to strengthen their squads every year. It has resulted in some players playing for several IPL franchises.
Here is a list of the Indian players who have represented 5 or more IPL franchises.
Note: Pune Warriors India and Rising Pune Supergiant have been considered different franchises. Also, Deccan Chargers and Sunrisers Hyderabad have been considered different teams even though they were based out of the same city.
#6 Parthiv Patel (CSK, KTK, DC, SRH, RCB, MI)
Parthiv Patel became the first Indian to play for 6 IPL franchises when he turned up in blue for the Mumbai Indians in 2015.
He has played for the Chennai Super Kings (2010), Kochi Tuskers Kerala (2011), Deccan Chargers (2012), Sunrisers Hyderabad (2013), Royal Challengers Bangalore (2014) and the Mumbai Indians (2015-2017).
The pocket-sized dynamo has had the most successful stint for Mumbai Indians in his IPL career, giving the brisk starts at the top of the order. This season he is back with the RCB.
#5 Yuvraj Singh (KXIP, PWI, RCB, DD, SRH)
The southpaw from Punjab has been a part of 5 IPL teams in the past. Yuvi has represented Kings XI Punjab (2008-2011), Pune Warriors India (2011-13), Royal Challengers Bangalore (2014), Delhi Daredevils (2015) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (2016-2017).
He enjoyed a lot of success playing for the Kings XI Punjab in the early years of IPL but did not find the rhythm playing for Delhi Daredevils and Sunrisers Hyderabad. For Pune and SRH, his performances were average. He is back with the KXIP in 2018.
#4 Irfan Pathan (KXIP, DD, SRH, CSK, RPS, GL)
The junior Pathan was one of the hottest properties in Indian cricket when he arrived on the international arena.
However, inconsistency has seen him being axed from the several IPL franchises he has played for. Irfan started his IPL career with the Kings XI Punjab in 2008.
Thereafter, he has represented Delhi Daredevils (2011-2013), Sunrisers Hyderabad (2014), Chennai Super Kings (2015), Rising Pune Supergiant (2016) and the Gujarat Lions (2017).
#3 RP Singh (DC, KTK, MI, RCB, RPS)
The purple cap winner after his 2009 success kept on switching from one franchise to another finding very little success.
He has played for the Deccan Chargers (2008-2010), Kochi Tuskers Kerala (2011), Mumbai Indians (2012) and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (2013) before going unsold in 2014 and 2015.
He returned in 2016 to play for the Rising Pune Supergiant but failed to make an impact. RP Singh's playing days are long gone and we are unlikely to see him playing for another team in future.
#2 Dinesh Karthik (DD, KXIP, MI, RCB, GL)
The wicket-keeper batsman from Tamil Nadu has been a globetrotter in the IPL, moving from one franchise to another almost every season.
So far he has donned 5 different colours and is all set to try purple in IPL 11.
In the past, Karthik has played for Delhi Daredevils (2008-2010 and 2014), Kings XI Punjab (2011), Mumbai Indians (2012-2013), Royal Challengers Bangalore (2015), Gujarat Lions (2016-2017) and is all set to play for the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2018.
#1 Ashok Dinda (KKR, DD, PWI, RCB, RPS)
The Bengal quick has played for the Kolkata Knight Riders (2008-2010), Delhi Daredevils (2011), Pune Warriors India (2013), Royal Challengers Bangalore (2014-2015) and Rising Pune Supergiant (2016-2017) in his IPL career.
So far, Dinda has made a significant mark for any of the teams he has played for. His poor death bowling performances did not catch any the eye of any bidder at the IPL Auction 2018.
