Pat Cummins became only the fifth bowler to have multiple hat-tricks in the shortest format. The pacer achieved this feat in Australia's second game of the Super 8 against Afghanistan on Sunday, June 23.

Cummins first dismissed Rashid Khan on the last ball of the 18th over; the Afghan captain hit it straight into the hands of Tim David at long-on. The Australia pacer then came to bowl the last over of the innings and took the wicket of Karim Janat on the first ball, who tried to go for a big one but only managed to be caught by Tim David.

Gulbadin was the next to get dismissed; he was also looking for a maximum but was caught on deep mid-wicket as Afghanistan lost momentum. As a result, Rashid Khan and co. finished with 148 runs in their 20 overs.

In response, Australia didn't start well and kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. Glenn Maxwell (59) was the lone fighter for Australia; however, Afghanistan scripted history as they defeated the Men in Yellow for the first time, keeping their hopes to qualify for the semi-final alive.
