Mitchell McClenaghan got his second wicket as Andre Russell was dismissed for 36. Later in the over, Gambhir smashed McClenaghan for a boundary for a four. Still it’s a good over as just 7 runs were conceded apart from Andre Russell’s wicket.

Mumbai, at least on paper, are right up there to match their rivals with Rohit Sharma, Lendl Simmons, Jos Buttler, Ambati Rayudu in the top order, the power and muscle of Kieron Pollard, Corey Anderson and Hardik Pandya in the middle and lower middle order, adding to the late hitting skills of Harbhajan that we witnessed in the last game, and some promising bowlers in Jagdeesha Suchith, Shreyas Gopal, Tim Southee, Mitchell McClenaghan, Jasprit Bumrah and Merchant de Lange.

There is no dearth of talent on either side, as KKR have capable batsmen in Gambhir, Uthappa, Chris Lynn, Manish Pandey, and Colin Munro, terrific all rounders in Shakib Al Hasan, Andre Russell, and Yusuf Pathan, lower order sloggers in Suryakumar Yadav, and a very good spin attack containing Brad Hogg, Piyush Chawla and Sunil Narine, a penetrating pace attack comprising Morne Morkel, Jason Holder and Umesh Yadav.

While at the moment it may look like the two teams are sitting at two opposite ends of the ladder, it must not be forgotten that there have been only 8 games in the tournament and the teams have played just 1 game each. Hence, the sample space is too small to declare a tournament favourite at this stage and both teams would look to win this game to take the momentum into their further games.

Mumbai, on the other hand, couldn't get anything right in their opening match against Pune, which was also the tournament opener, on April 9 at the Wankhede Stadium. First, they could only manage 121/8 in their 20 overs, that could have been even worse, had it not been for Harbhajan Singh's 45-run cameo, and then succumbed to the prowess of the Pune top order- in Ajinkya Rahane, Faf du Plessis, and Kevin Pietersen- and lost the match by 9 wickets.

It was a comfortable victory for the home team on April 10, when their bowlers did an excellent job by bowling out the Daredevils for a paltry 98, thanks to excellent spells by Brad Hogg and Piyush Chawla, and then Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa made a cakewalk of the chase, thereby giving them the victory by 9 wickets.
