The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) is a professional cricket franchise based in Lucknow which competes in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Sanjiv Goenka purchased the franchise in a draft organized by the BCCI in October 2021 and made history as the most expensive IPL franchise.
The franchise appointed Indian wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul as its captain ahead of its debut season. It qualified for the playoffs in 2022 and 2023, finishing third on both occasions. However, LSG finished at the seventh spot last summer. The franchise roped in Rishabh Pant for a massive INR 27 crores in the mega-auction held in late 2024. Pant is set to lead the Lucknow-based franchise in IPL 2025.
