Michael Carberry of Hampshire has been selected to represent England in the T20Is to be played against Australia on 29th and 31st August.

Carberry scored 502 runs at an average of 55.77, helping the club reach the semi-finals of the Friends Life T-20 tournament. He previously represented his country in a solitary Test at Chittagong in Bangladesh, almost three years ago.

England announced a 13-man team for the two games, which has seen the inclusion of Steve Finn and Stuart Broad, both of whom had missed the series against New Zealand in June earlier this year.

Broad will lead the side and hope to gain some momentum ahead of the T20I World Cup scheduled in Bangladesh, six months from now.

“With only eight international T20 matches until the World T20 next April this series is an important chance for players to show they are capable of performing well at this level,” national selector Geoff Miller said.

“The two matches will also allow Ashley Giles and Stuart Broad an opportunity to look at a number of different options,” Miller added.

England squad:

Stuart Broad (C), Ravi Bopara, Danny Briggs, Jos Buttler (WK), Michael Carberry, Jade Dernbach, Steven Finn, Alex Hales, Michael Lumb, Eoin Morgan, Boyd Rankin, Joe Root, James Tredwell, Luke Wright.
