Pakistan spin bowling all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has been reported for a suspect illegal bowling action after the conclusion of the first Test against New Zealand at Abu Dhabi. Hafeez becomes the second bowler from Pakistan after Saeed Ajmal in the long standing list of off-spinners to be called in an international match since July.
International Cricket Council’s (ICC) official Twitter account for media and communication released the news on Thursday after Pakistan comfortably beat New Zealand by 248 runs to go 1-0 up in the 3-match series.
Hafeez is a regular bowler for Pakistan and has 41 Test and 122 ODI wickets to his name to go with 45 T20I scalps. Notably, Hafeez had been called for chucking in the Champions League T20 held in India earlier this year.
The player should undergo testing within 21 days since being reported in any of the ICC accredited testing centers. The cricketer is permitted to continue playing till the test results are announced and is expected to be part of the second Test match starting on November 17.
