Mohammed Siraj is a Hyderabad-born right-arm medium-fast bowler who has played in every format for the Indian cricket team. 2018 saw Siraj make his debut in T20Is for his country. At the Gabba, the aggressive right-arm seamer led a weakened Indian attack with a 5-wicket haul while displaying excellent composure.
Due to his outstanding results in the IPL for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, he was selected for the 2022 ODI team. The fiery bowler went on to prove that he was a reliable wicket-taker in the 50-over format, as highlighted by his sensational 6/21 stint in the Asia Cup 2023 final.
Mohammed Siraj IPL teams from 2008-24
Siraj began his IPL career in 2017 while playing for his hometown team Sunrisers Hyderabad. He took 10 wickets in 6 outings but was eventually released ahead of the mega auction in 2018. Siraj found a new home in the form of RCB, where he came under the wings of former Indian skipper Virat Kohli.
But, like RCB, Siraj endured a couple of horrendous seasons, where he got regularly carted around the park. He reached an absolute nadir during a 2019 fixture against the Kolkata Knight Riders, where Andre Russell and co smashed him for 36 runs in 2.2 overs with the help of 5 sixes.
Amid calls of releasing him, Kohli and the RCB management showed faith in the Hyderabad seamer, and it paid off when Siraj led the attack beautifully in the next two seasons, which were played mostly in the UAE. Ever since 2018, he has been retained by RCB for all the seasons to date.
