Dot balls are like gold dust in T20 cricket. They help to build scoreboard pressure on the batsmen, which ultimately leads to a wicket.
Over the course of the past 16 seasons of the Indian Premier League (IPL), we have seen plenty such bowlers who have mastered the art of ramping up the scoreboard pressure on the batsman by consistently delivering dot balls.
The most successful bowler in this regard has been veteran India and SunRisers Hyderabad swing bowler, Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
The right-arm swing bowler has sent down 593 overs in his 160-match IPL career, during which he delivered 1534 dot balls.
The top-5 is dominated by the spinners, with Sunil Narine (1478 in 624 overs), R Ashwin (1477 in 698 overs), Piyush Chawla (1272 in 605 overs), and Harbhajan Singh (1268 in 569 overs) occupying the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th spot respectively.
The 6th and 7th spot are occupied by veteran spinners, Amit Mishra (1186 in 559 overs) and Ravindra Jadeja (1159 in 589 overs) respectively followed by pacer duo of Lasith Malinga (1155 in 471 overs), Umesh Yadav (1147 in 487 overs) and the most successful bowler in IPL history, Yuzvendra Chahal, who has delivered 1129 dots in his 145-match career thus far.
