Former Sri Lankan opener T Dilshan and former Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi hold the record for registering the most number of ducks in the history of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.

Dilshan, a former T20 World Cup winner and one of the greatest to ever feature in the global showpiece event, bagged five ducks in his 34 inning career that saw him amass 897 runs with the help of six 50+ scores. The right-handed opener was the most successful batsman in the 2009 event. However, he suffered the ignominy of registering a duck in the final of the marquee event, which Pakistan went on to win.

Meanwhile, “BOOM BOOM!” Shahid Afridi, who played a massive role in Pakistan winning the 2009 T20 World Cup, suffered the ignominy of registering five ducks in 32 outings. Notably, he also registered a duck during the inaugural T20 WC final against India.

The third place is locked with seven players registering four ducks in their respective T20 World Cup careers. The names include legendary performers like Sanath Jayasuriya (four in 18 innings) and Andre Russell (four in 18 innings) and players like Lendl Simmons (four in 14 innings), Roelof Van der Merve (four in 13 innings), George Dockrell (four in eight innings), Calum McLeod (four in 11 innings), and Luke Wright (four in 20 innings).

The likes of DJ Bravo (three ducks in 30 innings), Richie Berrington (three ducks in 13 innings), Alwx Hales (three ducks in 20 innings), Mushfiqur Rahim (three ducks in 28 innings), Kamran Akmal (three in 28 innings), and Ashish Nehra (three in three innings) feature next in the list.
