In a format like Twenty20 cricket, where every dot delivery is like gold dust, a maiden over is like a gold mine.
Legendary Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh holds the record for delivering the most number of maiden overs in the history of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Harbhajan, who featured in 18 T20 World Cup matches, delivered four maiden overs.
There are several bowlers who have delivered three maiden overs apiece in the showpiece event, but former Sri Lankan pacer Dilhara Fernando stands apart from the rest, as he took just five innings to deliver three maidens.
The Sri Lankans dominate the rest of the list, thanks to the likes of Ajanta Mendis (three maidens in 21 innings), Nuwan Kulasekara (three maidens in 18 innings), Rangana Herath (three maidens in 10 innings), and Angelo Matthews (two maidens in 27 innings).
The other Indian in the top ten list is former Kerala pacer Sreesanth, who delivered two maidens in six matches during the inaugural edition of the World Cup.
