Indian captain Rohit Sharma holds the record for the most appearances in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The right-handed opener is one of the two active players (alongside Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan) to feature in each edition of the T20 WC.
Sharma has featured in 39 matches across eight editions, scoring 963 runs in 36 innings @ 34.39/127.88. Shakib, meanwhile, has played 36 matches across the last eight editions.
Former Sri Lankan opener T Dilshan is the third-most experienced player in the marquee event’s history. The 2009 Player of the Series featured in 35 T20 WC matches between 2007-16.
Former Pakistan all-rounder and 2009 T20 WC-winner, Shahid Afridi, is 4th on the list with 34 caps between 2007-16, followed by two-time World Cup winner Dwayne Bravo, who represented the West Indies in 34 matches.
The captains of the inaugural T20 WC final, MS Dhoni and Shoaib Malik, featured in 33 and 34 games respectively. The inaugural World Cup-winning captain also holds the record of leading his country in the most number of matches in the tournament’s history. While Malik continued till 2021, MSD played his last ever T20 WC match in 2016.
