Legendary Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan leads the pack when it comes to taking the most number of wickets in the history of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Shakib, who is set to feature in his ninth T20 World Cup next month, has taken 47 wickets in 35 innings @ 18.63/6.78.
The Sri Lankan and Pakistani bowlers dominate the rest of the top five, with Shahid Afridi (39), Lasith Malinga (38), Saeed Ajmal (38), and Ajanta Mendis (36) occupying the second, third, fourth, and fifth spot respectively.
Former Pakistani pacer Umar Gul, who led the bowling charts in the opening two editions, is at the sixth spot with 35 wickets in 24 innings.
Legendary off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is the only Indian to feature in the top ten. The Tamil Nadu cricketer has taken 32 wickets in 24 T20 WC matches.
Current Lankan T20 captain Wanindu Hasaranga, who topped the wicket-taking charts in the past two World Cups, is at the eighth spot with 31 wickets against his name in just 16 innings.
Dale Steyn and Stuart Broad close out the top ten with 30 wickets apiece.
