#300 Ross Taylor: Napier, 2014
Brief Scores: New Zealand 292/7 in 50 overs (Williamson 71, Anderson 58*; Shami 4/55) beat India 268 in 48.4 overs (Kohli 123, Dhoni 40; McCleneghan 4/68) by 24 runs
Though India's tour to New Zealand in 2014 remained winless for them despite coming close to a victory on numerous occasions, Dhoni achieved his 300th dismissal on the first match of the tour. New Zealand looked determined to post a massive total batting first with Ross Taylor and captain Brendon McCullum at the crease. A steady Taylor was removed in the first ODI at Napier when Mohammad Shami forced the experienced middle-order batsman into poking one outside off.
Taylor edged straight to Dhoni behind, who bagged it with ease; and though his second catch of the match was that of another big-hitter McCullum, India failed to chase down 293. For the first time in ODIs, Virat Kohli's century in a run chase – 123 off 111 balls – saw India come second. Dhoni was the next highest scorer with 40 but once he departed after a partnership of 95 with Kohli, India fell apart to lose by 24 runs.
