Australian cricketers Nathan Lyon and Glenn Maxwell put in an extraordinary effort in an attempt to save a boundary during an ODI against Zimbabwe, the first match of the tri-series that also involves South Africa, on Monday.
The incident occurred in the 9th over of Zimbabwe’s innings, when Sikandar Raza stroke the ball off the back foot from the bowling of Mitchell Starc. The ball seemed to be heading towards the fence, when Lyon made a last-ditch effort to keep the ball in play by getting to the ball and throwing it up in the air, as modern fielders tend to do.
With the 26-year-old not in complete control, he seemed to have thrown the ball into the boundary. Out of no where, came Maxwell, who put in a diving one-handed effort to throw the ball back into play. Mitchell Marsh was on hand to get the ball back to the wicket-keeper.

But in the end, all their efforts did not come to anything as Raza and his batting partner Hamilton Masakadza ran four runs anyway.
Earlier in the same match, Mitchell Johnson had shattered the glass on the commentary box window with a meaty blow for six. Australia won the match by 198 runs in the end, with Mitchell Marsh picking up the Man of the Match award for his 89 with the bat and bowling figures of 1/15.
