New Zealand beat Bangladesh in a run fest

Colin Munro smashed a quick fire 73 of 39 balls to take New Zealand to a mammoth score of 204/5 at the Shere Bangla National stadium, Mirpur.

Despite losing the one day series 0-3, the Kiwis kept their heads up and from the first ball itself, they looked a determinant team keen to put up a good show. Kiwis were off to a flyer with both the openers putting up a stand of 73 for the first wicket. Between Rutherford and Devcich, the latter was the aggressor who scored a half century (59; 31 b, 10*4, 1*6). Rutherford (17; 17 b) on the other hand turned out to be a perfect partner for Devcich with his slow yet steady knock.

Abdur Razzak got rid of the danger-man Devcich in the 10th over to put the match back on level terms. But then came the star of the match Colin Munro who took the attack to the Bangladeshi bowlers. In his entertaining knock, he hit 5 massive sixes and 3 elegant boundaries. On the other side, no Bangladeshi bowler looked impressive and hence struggled to stop the run flow. Al- Amin Hossain was by far their best bowler who ended up with figures of 4-31-2.

Bangladesh got off to a worst possible start loosing three wickets in quick succession.Then, came their Captain Mushfiqur Rahim (50; 29 b; 7*4, 1*6) who somehow managed to get their chase back on track by putting up a quick 54- run partnership with Naeem Islam. After Rahim’s wicket, every batsman made a quick score to take Bangladesh ever so close to winning a match. In the end, Bangladesh were 15 runs short of the target. And, it was joy for one team and dismal for the other.

This match was a great spectacle for T20 lovers, for both teams displayed their phenomenal batting, but this was the day for New Zealand to celebrate. Kiwis though after loosing the one day series and squaring the test series have got something to show from this tour.
