New Zealand returned to the top of the 2023 World Cup points table after a comfortable win over Bangladesh in Chennai on Friday, October 13. Captain Kane Williamson led from the front, scoring a half-century for New Zealand. His 78-run knock helped the Blackcaps earn two more points in the standings.

With this win, New Zealand has become the first team to touch six points in the 2023 World Cup points table. The Blackcaps have won all three matches they have played so far in the competition. Their next match is against Afghanistan at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, in Chennai.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh suffered their second consecutive defeat in the tournament. The Tigers are sixth in the 2023 World Cup points table with two points after three matches. Their net run rate has reduced from -0.653 to -0.699, courtesy of the eight-wicket loss against New Zealand. Here are the updated standings:

South Africa has dropped down to the second position after the match between New Zealand and Bangladesh. The Proteas have four points from two matches, the same as third-placed India and fourth-placed Pakistan, who will be in action in Ahmedabad on Saturday, October 14.

India and Pakistan will clash for the eighth time in ODI World Cup history today at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The two teams have battled seven times at the grand stage before, with the Men in Blue emerging victorious on all seven occasions.

Pakistan will aim to snap their losing streak against India in ODI World Cup matches, whereas India will be keen to make it 8-0. The match will start at 2 PM. The winner of this game will likely dethrone New Zealand as the No. 1 team in the points table.
