India took on England in the second semi-final of the 2024 T20 World Cup on Thursday, June 27, at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. England won the toss and elected to bowl.
India lost the wicket of Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant in the powerplay. Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav added 73 runs for the third wicket. Rohit was dismissed after scoring 57 runs off 39 deliveries, while Suryakumar missed the half-century mark by three runs.
India finished with 171 for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. Chris Jordan was the pick of the bowlers for England as he took three wickets for 37 runs in three overs.
England got a flying start and collected 26 runs in the first three overs. They lost the first wicket in the fourth over and lost four more before reaching the 50-run mark. The match kept on slipping from England’s hands and they were bundled out for 103 runs.
India won the match by 68 runs. Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav took three wickets each. Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets for 12 runs in 2.4 overs. Axar won the Player of the Match award for his performance.
