The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the schedule of the Champions Trophy, which will start from February 19. Along with the schedule, the ICC has also announced that Dubai will be the neutral venue in place for Team India and all of their contests.
The Champions Trophy was last played eight years ago in 2017. England were the hosts of the competition and Pakistan won the trophy for the first time, beating arch-rivals India in the summit clash by 180 runs. The tournament was scrapped after that and was revived four years later in 2021, with plans to be played in Pakistan come 2025.
Ahead of the tournament, there were rumors that the tournament was to be entirely moved out of Pakistan. But in an ICC meeting earlier this month, it was decided that India and Pakistan matches hosted by either country at ICC tournaments during the 2024-27 cycle will be played at neutral venues.
The Champions Trophy begins on February 19, with Bangladesh, India, New Zealand, and Pakistan in Group A and Australia, Afghanistan, England and South Africa in Group B.
The semi-finals will be played on March 4 and 5, with the venue subject to change should India qualify for the knockouts. India will be playing in Semi-Final 1 if they make it to the semi-finals and should they qualify for the final, the summit clash will be held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
