Ravichandran Ashwin extended New Year wishes to his fans by sharing a post on his official Instagram account on Tuesday, December 31. The recently retired cricket posted a couple of pictures alongside his wife Prithi Narayanan.
He also shared a quote along with the New Year greetings. The former Team India bowling all-rounder wrote:
"A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality. ❤️❤️🤗 . We dive into another orbit around the sun🔥🔥. Happy 2025."
Ravichandran Ashwin was part of India's squad for the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia. However, the ace off-spinner announced his retirement from international cricket following the third Test of the series.
The 38-year-old is arguably the greatest ever off-spinner India has ever produced. Ashwin finished his international career with 765 wickets across formats, the most by an Indian bowler. He also did an impressive job with the bat, hitting six centuries and 14 fifties in Test cricket.
"Don’t think there is any doubt" - Ravichandran Ashwin backs Jasprit Bumrah to win ICC Men's Test Cricketer of the Year Award
Team India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has been nominated for the ICC Men's Test Cricketer of the Year Award for 2024. His fellow nominees are English batter Joe Root, Harry Brook, and Sri Lanka's 26-year-old rising star Kamindu Mendis.
Ravichandran Ashwin opined that Bumrah is the most deserving one for the prestigious award. Suggesting that the speedster has changed the way the sport is viewed in India, he wrote on the microblogging platform X:
"Don’t think there is any doubt about who the winner should be. Some serious cricketers in the list but the man at no 1 on the nominee list is changing the way cricket is viewed in India. Booms."
Bumrah was in splendid form with the ball in 2024, bagging 71 wickets at an average of 14.92. It is worth mentioning that he is also nominated for the ICC Men's Cricketer of the Year Award.
