The 2024 Andhra Premier League witnessed an absolute gem of a cricket match as the Godavari Titans defeated the Bezawada Tigers by one run. It came in the eighth match of the tournament at Visakhapatnam on Saturday, July 6. Meanwhile, the Vizag Warriors successfully chased down a target of 166 against the Coastal Riders in the ninth match of the tournament.
In the first game of the day, the Bezawada Tigers won the toss and elected to field first against the Godavari Titans. The Titans got off to a stellar start. Skipper CR Gnaneshwar and Mamidi Vamsi Krishna set the platform for the other batters to follow, scoring 41 and 45 runs, respectively.
The next two batters, namely Penmetsa Raju and M. Hemanth Reddy, took off from where the openers left. They scored quickfire half-centuries to propel the Godavari Titans’ score.
Penmetsa Raju blasted 51 off just 24 deliveries with an SR of 212.50, while M. Hemanth Reddy scored his 60 off 22 at an SR of 272.73. KV Sasikanth gave the Titan's innings a late flourish, as he has normally done throughout his tournament. He registered a cameo of 17 off five balls to help the Godavari Titans post a total of 225/10 in 20 overs. Shambhu Akhil took 4/37 in four overs for the Bezawada Tigers.
Chasing 226 runs, the Tigers lost both of their openers early with no significant contributions. However, their middle order stepped up as Kothakoona Lakshman (46 off 23) and Pyla Avinash (105 off 58) took attack on the opposition. In a closely contested affair, the Tigers eventually fell short of one run as the Titans emerged victorious in this high-scoring thriller.
The Vizag Warriors won the toss and elected to bowl first against the Coastal Riders in the second game of the day. CSK batter and Coastal Riders skipper Shaik Rasheed top-scored for his team with his 67 off 48 deliveries.
Dharani Kumar (21 off 19), Abhishek Reddy (28 off 16), and KS Narasimha Raju (23 off 19) helped the Riders post a respectable total of 165/8 in 20 overs. Vizag Warriors bowler Yeddala GK Reddy took 5/26 in his four-over spell against the Riders.
In reply, the Vizag Warriors fell short of the target. This is despite contributions from Ashwin Hebbar (31 off 24), skipper Srikar Bharat (69 off 46), and Karan Shinde (41 off 38). The Coastal Riders emerged victorious with a close margin of three runs.

Coastal Riders’ skipper Shaik Rasheed continues his good form at the top of the inning with 234 runs in four innings at an average of 78.
Pyla Avinash of the Bezawada Tigers was unfortunate to be on the losing side today after his scintillating 105 against the Godavari Titans. Avinash is in the second spot behind list leader Shaik Rasheed with a total of 170 runs at a strike rate of 153.15.
Vizag Warriors skipper Srikar Bharat is in the third position on the highest run-getters list with 162 runs in three innings at an SR of 158.82. P. Roshan Kumar and Ashwin Hebbar round off the top five list, accumulating 133 and 122 runs, respectively. They occupy the fourth and fifth spots, respectively.
Mamidi Vamsi Krishna and Abhishek Reddy have transgressed the 100-run mark. Mamidi Vamsi Krishna is in the sixth spot with 119 runs, while Abhishek Reddy is in the seventh position with 108 runs.
M. Hemanth Reddy, DB Prasanth Kumar, and Dhruva Kumar Reddy round off the top 10 list with scores of 98, 92, and 74 runs, respectively.
Andhra Premier League 2024 Most Wickets List
Kodavandla Sudharshan of the Vizag Warriors, with his tally of seven wickets in three innings, tops the list of highest wicket-takers list. Sudharshan has claimed his wickets at an average of 10.86 and an economy rate of 6.33.
With seven wickets each to their name, Shambu Akhil and Yeddala GK Reddy occupy the second and third positions, respectively, with a bowling average of 12.29 and 13.57.
Bandaru Ayyappa has claimed five wickets in two innings and occupies the fourth spot on the highest wicket-takers list, while Cheepurapalli Stephen is in the fifth spot with five wickets in four matches.
The sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth spots all have taken four wickets so far in the tournament. Yarra Prithviraj, Kladhi Ajay Kumar, Gavvala Mallikarjuna, Penmetsa Satya Raju, and Uddaraju Ahitesh Verma round off the top 10 list.
